A letter from the artist, Mike Hawthorne:

“Hey, I’m Mike Hawthorne. I’m an artist, illustrator, educator, and indie publisher. I’m primarily known for my work in comics drawing books like Deadpool, Spider-man, Superman, and Daredevil.

I discovered Blackwing online, and went out to pick them up at my favorite local art supply and pen shop, Pippi’s Pen Shop. Like many of you, I tried them out and was hooked. 

I’m never far from a Blackwing pencil, whether it’s my anatomy class where I use them to do demos to my studio where I use them to layout my newest comic or cover. 

So, I couldn’t be more excited to see the Blackwing folks doing an edition in celebration of comics! I got to test drive an early model and I loved it! I even drew a “comic cover” for you all, and I hope you enjoy both the art and the pencil.
